Not much cool info for me. Things are great, living in Norwalk, CT with wife and kids. I work for Blue Ribbon Restaurants in New York, www.blueribbonrestaurants.com, I am the product manager for Naked Nuggets Grilled Chicken Nuggets www.shedthebread.com. It is a healthier chicken nugget that is made with 100% chicken. No junk on them, no junk in them. We have been growing the brand in the natural food section for the past 4 years and continue to push for more retailers to stock them. I am really lucky as I work with some really great people.
I have to travel a lot for work and it sometimes allows me to catch up with a lot of old friends. This past year I was able to catch up with Jon Field, Roger Lambert, and John Sheehan. I still play guitar and get together with friends like Scott Frosch (Wide Awake drummer) when I can. Oh, and I always check out Double Cross. Really, the pictures and entries are always interesting so thanks Tim and Gordo! - Rob

wow. so sorry to hear he's part of the dead-animals-as-food industry.
Somebody call the fuckin' WAAAAMbulance on Anonymous here.
random and mildly depressing...
What's random and mildy depressing?
Rob is one of the least depressing most upbeat, fun people ever!
He left out that he owned a Ct skateshop/ramp for years that was a local institution for thousands of local kids.
Anyone who knows Rob loves Rob, period.
christ almighty these ppl comin on here to complain about peoples life stories...go fly a kite.
anonymous tell us about yourself, please. no, really.
Yeah, no mention of Axis Boardsports that use to exist in Brookfield and Norwalk. Rob did WIC-ed Fest every summer for like 5 years (Wakeboarding in CT Fest) where we had live bands and wakeboarding, etc.
Axis in Brookfield had a huge indoor ramp and outdoor skate park.
Like Sue said "Anyone who knows Rob loves Rob, period".
On a random note... my word verification to post this message is ofatarm.
no more
Very cool to see he is happy and succeeding!
Wide Awake is part of the tiny number of bands I never got to see, but the sound of his guitar always gave me goosebumps! Just a great band!
Thanks for sharing your story man!
You veggie babies REALLY need to grow up! I think it's RAD that this guy has the guts to try something new and follow his dreams. I wish him the best of luck and hope he lands an exclusive deal with a major grocery chain or fast food restaurant like MacDonald's...
I've eaten at the Blue Ribbon on Sullivan St. I remember the steak tartare being very good, as was the restaurant as a whole.
Anonymous can suck it. Next time I'll have foie gras.
@F. Gonzale$ what is "new" about killing animals to satisfy one's pallete? does it really take "guts" to grind up chickens and roll chunks of their flesh in batter? yeah, what could be more totally rad than landing a deal with mcdonald's? that would RULE wouldn't it?
@TJK, suck what, you fucking homophobe?
wide awake => FAST ASLEEP.
If you're not veg, you're not edge!
What a bunch of nagging nellies...sheesh
Beneath the glare
Days of agony are spent
Caged, chained or penned
Above a floor of wire fence
Every basic right denied
Even the freedom of movement
Inescapable insanity
Dominates every moment
Enslaved and entombed
I disengage the death machine
species torn from nature
individuals decreased
from living beings no nothing more
than mechaniced protein machines
calves seized from their mothers
confined in veal crates
Meat, dairy industries connect
To end with the same fate
Enslaved and entombed
I disengage the death machine
Boxcars, stockyards the killing floor
decapitated in the abattoir
partake suffer the consequence
anthropocentric arrogance
Beneath the glare
Days of agony are spent
Caged, chained or penned
Above a floor of wire fence
Every basic right denied
Even the freedom of movement
Inescapable insanity
Dominates every moment
Vegan for life
Vegan to the death
Very literary, those lyrics.
guilty and must be destroyed
"guilty and must be destroyed."
Shut up, you Earth Crisis tool. Go play some football, tough guy.
Those Earth Crisis lyrics are spot-on. I hope all the carnists in this thread will read them, slowly, and consider what they really mean.
@Marc, how trite of you to call someone out for "nagging" anyone about their role in the death of sentient beings. Last I heard, a single carnist is responsible for the death of about 100 animals each year. It is not a trivial matter.
Intolerant and reactionary kids...what a bore.
Complacent, heartless, thoughtless grown-ups; what a bore. How completely unsurprising.
Some of us are intolerant of senseless suffering and death. Proudly so.
Chad--It's not that I feel the issue is not important--I just think the attack on this indvidual's choices in this forum are a bit misplaced...
Sharing information about the indusrty etc..understanndable..
calling him depressing, or attacking him persoanlly--not going to help anyone...and believe me it's something I've been guilty of on the past as well..but it just seemed rather unsupportive of sdsomeone sharing their life update on this blog...
ahh that's enoguh of me reambling...
I can't believe that people still namecheck Earth Crisis! They ruined sXe in the 90's with their vegan power bullshit and now they're back on the bandwagon.
What a bunch of whiny fucking PUSSIES those guys were. Oh, and Karl was eating bean burritos from DEL TACO at the Showcase theatre in Corona, CA in like '95 or something. Don't they cook meat at DEL FUCKING TACO! Yeah, VEGAN POWER dude!
Man, that totally sick intro to 'last straw' on the wide awake 7" just doesn't sound the same now that I know homeboy sells chicken mcnuggets. What a let down.
No wonder hardcore will never make it.....Hardcore people hate each other over veg or not....not an issue in the 80's....no one was vegetarian, except for a small faction, til 89 or so...(lol)
Everyone seems to forget this is to celebrate the guitar player for a band that inspired a lot of people, and me!
Why act like meanies?????
he played bass...and yeah, this scathing, negative comments about the dude's career are unbelievable.
Okay, if he were product manager for a company producing 100% dog or cat meat nuggets, everyone would be up in arms, yet the minute someone objects to nuggifying chickens, it's too much for you all to handle?
I thought a major feature of SXE/hardcore movement was speaking out about against and distancing one's self from injustice, yet now many say the movement is a failure when people do exactly that.
Fuck that.
If we don't speak out, what is the movement except one big nostalgia-fueled self-congratulatory pat on the back?
With a few exceptions, all I hear here is the American status-quo advocating institutionalized violence against animals, i.e., defending this man's "right" to promote violence and death.
What's next? Omni-Edge? What's the motto? "We sort of care a lot... mostly about ourselves. And moshing."
mmmmmmmm chicken nuggets make me hungry!
i like the guy, though i don't listen to Wide Awake anymore. besides the fact that after solding out my seventeen year old vege commitment (incl two years of veganism)those chicken nuggets seem to be a quite good option...
I wonder if all of the "kids" posting on here saying these peoples' lives are boring realize that the majority of them are going to be THE SAME WAY. Maybe they should move outta mommy and daddy's place before they go shooting their mouths off.
being veg is way more important than being straight edge, but i'm not either. i would write more but i need to smoke a bowl with my frat bros
it just proves it's better to stay in school :-)
