Poll results to hearing YOT's "No More"

This photo of Youth Of Today was just posted on the Livewire board today by Lars Krolik. It's from their 2003 European Summer tour and was taken in Bremen. I thought the photo was so great that I couldn't resist re-posting it here with these poll results. I look at that crowd and all I can think of doing is stage diving.

Although it wasn't automatic for me in 1988, Youth Of Today's "No More" eventually influenced me to go vegetarian. It was one of those things that once I wrapped my head around it, read enough and saw enough I knew it was the right choice for me. Nineteen years later and I've never looked back, as a matter of fact, my feelings and convictions have only grown stronger. Like so many other things that I owe to Youth Of Today, you can definitely ad vegetarianism to that list. Looks like I'm not in this alone. -Tim DCXX

Hearing Youth Of Today's "No More" made me want to…

Throw down that burger and go vegetarian - 201
Didn't affect me one way or another - 183
Head off to McDonald's for a Big Mac - 43

Who is YOT?

I'm not vegetarian any more but the song that made me go vegetarian (to some extent) was Outspoken's survival. But that was just out as I was getting into HC, so had more of an immediate impact on me I guess.

The YOT reunion-tour was in 2003. I was at the Bremen-show. Ray went nuts like he was 19 years old.

WNITA was out of print at the time (mid 90s), so I only had it on tape and didn't really know what it was about. Maybe that's why I went vegetarian more because of Gorilla Biscuits' Cats And Dogs, even though it was kind of funny ("why am I so upset? Don't even own a pet"), and Nations On Fire's Four More Reasons.

I loved getting new records and reading the lyric sheet while listening to the songs. It was amazing how lyrics could change our outlook on things. Makes me think of the kids nowadays who don't buy records at all. I wonder if lyrics are still important to them as it was to the pre-mp3 generations.

At the time WNITA came out, I was working w/ Walter's brother Dylan at this convenience store down in the Village. He was telling me how psyched he was for this record. I went down to Some to pick it up with him and saw him standing in that YC ensemble photo...very cool. We would try to play this and other hc in the store when the manager wasn't around.

I wrote the lyrics in Nations on Fire and myself went vegetarian directly under the influence of 'No More'... nice to see what Pedro wrote here... this is what HC is about, passing on wisdom.

I remember seeing this video on night flight. I thought it was a joke even though I was already well aware of s/e. Night flight was awesome.

I put "didn't affect me" because I was already a vegetarian for a few years before getting into hardcore. The amount of animal rights activists involved with The Straight Edge was definitely an appealing part of it at the time.
