A still unsettled debate: When Mike says "those drugs are gonna kill you, if I don't get to you first," do you think he's saying "hey friend, you are putting your life at serious risk by partaking in drug activity unless I can help you overcome this problem"...OR, do you think he's saying, "motherfucker, those drugs are gonna kill you, unless I get to you first and kill you with my own bare hands?" When I was younger I was naive and optimistic and thought it was the former. Years later the topic came up and most people said to me, "are you crazy? He's saying he'll kill the guy unless the drugs kill the guy first!" I still want to think the 14 year old version of me is right (I'm a softy) but I'm pretty sure Mike was actually implying malice. -Gordo DCXX

yeah, he is saying, "drugs are gonna kill you, unless I get to you first and kill you". 99.99%
hardcore lyrics are
ridicolously childish, exagerrated and cheezy, and make no sense. "i lost the friend AAAAAAARRRRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!".
The drugs are AIDS and Mike is the warhead.
I would like to think the former but no it's pretty clear. But fuck what a band.
Maybe you should ask Mike.
a beer like a gun at your head
Naive tough guy bullshit. I have to laugh. Like, your really going to kill someone because they do drugs? Weird fantasy. Jocks ruined hardcore.
That said, I just smoked some Sour Diesel full melt (64.7% THC lab tested) over a nice nug of Candy Jack (Cotton Candy x Jack Herer strain - 60% indica/40% sativa)... and I'm feeling pretty fucked.
Maybe you should leave the borderline man-crush type obsession/worship of these pre-pubescent knuckleheads out of the equation completely and take these songs as free standing artistic expressions enabling yourself to take from the song what you need to take from it.
It doesnt matter what Mike Judge meant....means nothing at all. The BEST part of a song is what it means to you....by no means EVER find out what the asshole who wrote it meant. Rarely does that enhance your experience.
Gordo, maybe you can use this.

As a straight edger, this is the part of straight edge I hated the most. Live and let live... wait a minute... Mike Judge and all those tough guy morons could have taken a page from Insted.
I'll go with the former, hardliners exist only in their own minds.
@Kirby: Naive drug guy bullshit.
Its ok to say stuff like this as long as you can back it up.
Maybe he wasn't saying he wanted to kill all druggies just for being druggies.
Maybe it was about assholes who were also drug users and would put them down for being sXe (wasn't it the reason they started Judge)or whatever, and he was saying he'd like to kill the guy for being an asshole, and on top of that he was also a junkie, so drugs could do the job anyway.
"Borderline" man-crush. Understatement of the year.
some people want hardcore to be safe, friendly and fun for the whole family. i like it angry and pissed. "what might seem dumb to you, is beating in my heart".
1. he's saying he'll kill the guy
2. most of these comments are retarded. where's the man crush?
It was written about a family member whose lies and addictions were slowly killing the people around me by breaking their hearts day in and day out. I was done caring and the rest of my family weren't. I wasn't trying to be a tough guy, I was just worn out from hopes and then the let downs of a selfish idiot.
wow...the judge himself just chimed in and gave us the behind the scenes on that. very cool.
FUCK YEAH MJ !!!!!!!!
if that is a real Mike comment, then there is our answer. I used to take it as fighting dudes and such. As I have gotten older, for myself it means more of getting to someone and helping before they let the drugs kill them.
Judge had some tough-styled lyrics, and I never took Mike Judge to be a dude that just wanted to beat up druggies for the sake of it
Its seriously pathetic to be pondering this.
Judge other people isn't right! I'm agree with your point of view!
